Sugoi RS Jacket – First Impressions
Lightweight Jacket from Company that Knows About Rain
I recently received a Sugoi RS Jacekt, along with other items from their RS collection including shorts and jersey, from the Canadian company to review. The RS collection, which stands for Race System, sits in the middle of Sugoi’s range, just below their top of the line RSE collection, and is aimed at the avid cyclist looking for quality clothing. Here are my first impression of the Sugoi RS Jacket.
Based in British Columbia, Sugoi should know a thing or two about cycling in the rain. The Sugoi RS Jacket is a lightweight rain jacket with a contoured pro fit to reduce drag. One interesting feature is the elastic collar which creates a tight fit at the neck to further help keep rain out. For me it was a little too tight and felt slightly constricting.
On the rear, the Sugoi RS Jacket has a single zipped pocket that can be used for some storage and also features in a nifty trick. The jacket conveniently packs into the pocket and can be stored under your saddle with the help of a velcro strap. A great storage option for people who don’t like carrying too many bulky items in their jersey pockets or who don’t want to get their jersey wet after taking their jacket off. Kind of defeats to purpose to stick a wet rain jacket into a dry jersey pocket. The Sugoi RS Jacket fit really nicely and felt light and breathable, great for those summer rains. I would have liked to see more reflective details to help with visibility in the low light levels associated with rain but overall, the Sugoi RS Jacket looks to be an excellent jacket. Now I just have to wait for some rain to test it out.
