All Hail Sir Bradley

Bradley Wiggins has officially won the World Time Trial Championship in Ponferrada, Spain.  Wiggins, the 2012 Olympic Champion, dethroned 3-time winner, Tony Martin, to take the win in fantastic fashion.

Martin started fastest at the first checkpoint but as the route got hillier, Wiggins showed his superior climbing skills to overturn the deficit and beat Martin by 26.23 seconds at the line.  An absolutely superb performance from the British Champion.

By winning the gold in today’s World Time Trial Championship, Bradley Wiggins will put on his 8th Rainbow Jersey.  Wiggins won 7 World Championships during his career on the track so this victory is his first on the road.

Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands rounded out the podium with a strong performance, improving on his 14th place finish from last year.

My predictions from last post of who were going to finish on the podium were right but just not in the correct order.

Congratulations to Sir Bradley Wiggins, a truly remarkable cyclists.  Watch out for his attempt at the hour record in 2015.
